Trbovlje meeting: celebrating successes so far and planning the final steps…

The Learning from the Past team had a great project meeting in Slovenia in the first week of December. Together we reviewed the success of our peace heritage map and the events we held to share this research with young people in our local communities.

We are now at the stage of working with the young people in each of our countries to create art pieces that explore their critical responses to the learning the map generates around themes of peace and internationalism. These art works will be presented in a series of ‘Living Museum’ events in all the partner countries and then brought together at a final, large-scale exhibition at Lancaster City Museum in May-July 2020. We therefore spent much of the meeting on creative planning for these events and how to share the project outputs with our local communities in an imaginative and engaging way.

The meeting was hosted by our MCT project partners in Trbovlje. Many thanks to them for coordinating the event and organising some fascinating local heritage tours for us, including a visit to the coal miners’ houses restored to show life for mining families during different periods of Slovenian history.

Our final project meeting will take place in Krakow, Poland in June 2020.
